Pair of Original Hand-Painted Wooden Fairground Signage, circa 1950s

$4,680.00

Category:

When in use, the panels were linked together with couplings to form an oval shape and the mechanics of the fairground ride would sit within the centre. Each panel was numbered on the reverse, 1 to 8. The two panels for sale are numbered 2 and 8. Both are intricately hand-painted on the front and coated with a protective layer in an attempt to slow the degradation of the bright colours used. The reverse of the two panels is painted in the original orange. Flaking is present on the corners and to the sides, consistent with age. From a private collection in Margate on the South Coast of England. Price is for the pair. Circa 1950s.
